Scripture… As We Live It #190

This is the 190th passage in “Scripture… As We Live It.”
Whatever you ask in my name followed by the words “in Jesus’ name”, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name and close your prayer with “in Jesus’ name”, I will do it. (John 14:13-14 re-mix)
(Please read the first post for an explanation of this series.)
Uh oh, you’ve come across one of these that describes me. What does it mean to ask for something in Jesus’ name?
I use hocus pocus………
No but seriously I was convicted in myself a few years ago to stop saying “in Jesus’ name” because of the way it just seemed to be tacked on like a rote suffix to every christian prayer not knowing what it really even meant
This post makes a good point and hopefully whether or not people say “in Jesus’ name” still or not they may realize that there is more behind what Jesus said here then just asking for things using His name at the end
Grace and peace
