Scripture… As We Live It #40
This is the 40th installment of “Scripture… As We Live It“:
So, being affectionately desirous of you being hired as your professional ministers, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves our doctrinal statements, sermons, administrative services, books, and counselling sessions, because you had become very dear to us our parishoners and employers. (1 Thessalonians 2:8 re-mix)
Where does one leave off being a pastor or a minister and become a hired gun? Looking for same results, but lose the personal connection?
Andy,
Good questions. I think Jesus contrasted a shepherd to a hireling in John 10. Perhaps that’s a good place to start?

Unless of course your one of those fortunate pastors who had the vision and executed the building of his own church, fuzzy line then between employee collecting wages and dictator collecting taxes so you can come to his church. Just in case you don’t get a “call” you can always try the second approach and start your own megalomania church. Isn’t there a class with that subtitle out there?
