Consider one another… now

As many of my readers know, one of my favorite passages of Scripture dealing with believers meeting together is Hebrews 10:24-25:

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)

I love this passage because it gives us a goal for our meeting together and encouraging one another, that is, to produce love and good works in one another. It also tells us that we need to take time to think about (“consider”) one another before we meet together so that we can discern what each needs in order to point them towards a life that demonstrates love and good works.

Now, many times, brothers and sisters tell me that they would love to see this in practice, but they are not given the opportunity when they meet with other believers. So, I’m going to give you that opportunity right now.

Think about one of your brothers and sisters in Christ. Think about what they’re going through, their struggles, their strengths, their weaknesses, their opportunities, their successes, their failures, their faith, their lack of faith… What would you say to this person right now in order to encourage him or her toward a mature life that demonstrates love and good works?

Without naming the person, leave your response in a comment. It doesn’t have to be long… it doesn’t have to be detailed… but it should be directed toward someone that you know personally.

Here is your chance to consider another brother or sister and encourage that person. What would you say?
