Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him. (1 John 3:18-19 re-mix)

Love in word with no action is like a tree branch that has no fruit on it. It is dead and will be cut off in time. No abiding in the tree for life, then there is no life in and through a branch for a branch can do nothing on its own. We are the branches Christ is the life, John 15
I was just remembering how a former pastor of ours was in town and ran into my son where he worked at an area CVS. After the usual “hello’s” and “how ya been’s”, they concluded the pleasantries by telling our son, “Send your parents our love.”
Huh?
I really don’t get that. Now, without getting into any argument or discussion over this, he has been the “overseeing apostle” over the church we left nearly 4 years ago (he and his wife are now in Florida involved with several ministries, coming up to Jersey once or twice a year to visit that church). Since we left, we did not receive any communication from him concerning our departure…not seeing what our side of the deal was, how we were doing…nothing.
“Send your parents our love.”
What does that even mean? I understand that they were not being mean or deliberately ignorant. But, if love is something we do, a verbal sending of it is pointless. We need to use the words along with actions – for that matter, we need to remember that actions speak louder than words.
