This is the 232nd passage in “Scripture… As We Live It.”

Therefore whoever resists the [governing] authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment, unless you are resisting a nondemocratic government or helping others resist a nondemocratic government; that’s fine. (Romans 13:2 re-mix)

struggling with that scripture in such a heated election season…GOD is working on our behalf Always…He has a agenda to keep and so we have to look at the Big picture…we have a voice in our vote, let that be enough…striving to be quiet in the waiting ~ LORD, let my words be few, as we see what YOU Allow to unfold, the outcome, And then let us say, it is well with my soul ~ Amen.

    Alan,

I believe the context is that you shouldn’t resist punishment if you do evil. So, I think that opposing what a government does or stands for isn’t the issue.

Oh, and neither is it wrong to violate unjust laws.

    Alan,

I don’t believe in democracy. I have heard it said that, “Democracy is two wolves and a sheep casting votes on what to eat for lunch. But liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.”, or something like that.

I much prefer being a sheep with Jesus as my Shepherd. Democracy means the rule of the people. Since when have the people ever been able to efficiently rule themselves? Give me a Theocracy, any day, with Kingdom Rule. Everything else is merely temporal and serves only to distract.
