Here is the seventh installment of “Scripture… As We Live It“:
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind unless they’re wrong, having the same love unless they’re wrong, being in full accord and of one mind unless they’re wrong. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit unless they’re wrong, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves unless they’re wrong. (Philippians 2:1-3 remix)
So, so sad. So true. I was just wondering the other day how we as believers give ourselves a pass on loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Since I’ve been reading your blog, I have been convicted of my own pride. I mean, I don’t think I realized how much of an “I’m right and anyone who thinks different is wrong” attitude I’d developed. I still think there is a line that has to be drawn somewhere. Mormons, for instance, are not people who are brothers in Christ. But I don’t think the line is really where I might have perceived it to be, so to speak. Thanks for challenging me.
I wish I had seen this earlier. I just finished teaching this section of Scripture this morning and could have used this. Maybe I’ll use it next week in the recap. Very challenging, Alan.

I think we give ourselves a pass on loving others because we think God gives us a pass.

This line of thinking has been a challenge to me as well. I’m still learning what it means to “consider others as more important than myself”.

I’m glad to hear that you are teaching on this passage of Scripture. For the most part, I don’t think we live what this Scripture says.
