Scripture… As We Live It #215
This is the 215th passage in “Scripture… As We Live It.”
I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche those who divide from one another to agree in the Lord. (I’m not going to call out names, but you know who you are.) (Philippians 4:2 re-mix)

not sure where this one is going, but I read this from chapter 1 to stay in context. i am getting that these two were not in agreement and Paul wanted Love to over take the flrsh in them both,seeing understanding what Paul was saying about the flesh and to watch out for flesh minded people.
Let’s be real careful about where we disagree. Is it scripture? Or is it some denomination heavily armed with human understanding? Is there genuine division? Or is it just truth from scripture with which religious tradition doesn’t know what to do? Is grace taught? Or is law enforced?
I’ve recently had to leave a church due to unresolvable disagreement. Yet, I pray for that church, mostly because my wife and kids still go. To me, it was steeped with human understanding, religious tradition, and legalism. They would deny such things and claim I am going astray.
One of the scriptures that firmly convinced me of this move was Galatians 5:1, which says, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 ESV)” I now attend a house church in Plainfield, NJ, called Word-is-Truth Christian Church, so named after John 17:17. It is there I found the freedom Christ purchased for my sanctification.
What a difference! What a blessing!! Within weeks we are heavily into the mystery of the gospel and the riches of our inheritance in Christ Jesus, as we study the deep thoughts of God captured in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Yes, I found my rest in Him, rest for my soul, and yes, I am set free indeed by His truth, in which I delight.
Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I usually don’t comment on the Scripture… As We Live It posts, letting the “re-mix” stand on its own. However, the focus of this re-mix is not on the disagreement, but the fact that Paul called out Euodia and Syntyche by name.
