Book Meme

I’ve done this book meme before: “Page 123 Meme“. But, since Andy is a consistent reader and commenter, I’m going to do it again in response to his tag. Here are the rules:

Pick up the nearest book with at least 123 pages, turn to the 123rd page, find the 5th sentence and post the three sentences immediately after that.

There were two books close to me: The Apostolic Fathers Vol 1 and The Synonym Finder. My wife was sitting beside me when I read Andy’s post, and she said The Apostolic Fathers Vol 1 was closest. This concerned me because every other page in this book is Greek text. Luckily, the odd pages are the English translations. Here are the required sentences:

The height to which love leads is beyond description. Love binds us to God; love hides a multitude of sins; love bears all things and endures all things.There is nothing vulgar in love, nothing haughty. (1 Clement 49:4-5a)

This is a great passage from 1 Clement. I’m glad that I decided to take part in this meme again.
