Scripture… As We Live It #74
Here is the 74th passage in “Scripture… As We Live It“:
(This passage was suggested by my friend Jonathan.)
By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another preach the gospel correctly and practice Baptism and the Lord’s Supper correctly. (John 13:35 re-mix)
(Please read the first post for an explanation of this series.)
And you don’t let women preach and you don’t drink alcoholic beverages and you don’t “pretend” to speak in tongues.
Yes, we will recognize you as acceptable in Jesus’ eyes if you adopt our traditions…otherwise you’ll need to go through our new member’s class and sign our membership covenant. Then you can be a disciple of Jesus.
Hi, I’m a different Jonathan. I like your version too, but here’s my ‘playdough version’ of John 13:35 from my blog:
“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you attend the correct Sunday morning event
love one another.”When we meet someone new and they claim to be a Christian, why do we always ask “what church do you go to?” Does where we go Sunday morning define our relationship to God?
