Scripture… As We Live It #238
This is the 238th passage in “Scripture… As We Live It.”
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins was born in Bethlehem on December 25th and that you should celebrate his birthday annually in accordance with the Scriptures… (1 Corinthians 15:3 re-mix)
(Please read the first post for an explanation of this series.)
Certainly not among the “of first importance” things! I expect I could have Christian fellowship with those who make no celebration as well as with those who fill their front yard with sleighs, inflatable snowmen, and wrapped packages!
If not December 25th, I would hope that there would still be a day when The Bride celebrated the birth of Jesus. Personally I opt for sometime in the Summer, so we can celebrate His Birth with backyard cookouts, beer/wine, water balloon fights/ambushes, and later at evening a nice bonfire.
Just sayin’.
Why is it December 25th? The real genesis of this has been lost in the dusty memory of time, I’m sure. I could care less, really. I simply want one day out of the year when, like I said, The Bride celebrates Her King’s Birth. Boom.
