Examiner.com article: How do we move away from theology as a concept?

Posted by on Jan 19, 2011 in examiner.com | 2 comments

I’ve published another article at Examiner.com as the Raleigh Practical Christianity Examiner. This new article is called “How do we move away from theology as a concept?

In this article, I briefly mention Arthur from “A Voice Of One Crying Out In Suburbia” and his recent trip to Haiti. Why? Because of something that Arthur said in his post “Back.” I also mention my recent trip to Ethiopia.

Here is one paragraph from my article:

Christians do not have to travel to Haiti or Ethiopia to find opportunities to put their theology to work. These opportunities exist nearby in orphanages, schools, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and even in our own neighborhoods and backyards. Yes, there are people in Raleigh who are desperate for love – not love as a theological concept, but love as a way of life.

Examiner.com article: To Transform a City, begin with your neighbors

I’ve published another article as the “Raleigh Practical Christianity Examiner” on Examiner.com. The article is called “To Transform a City, begin with your neighbors.”

As you may have guessed, the articles introduces the book To Transform a City by Eric Swanson and Sam Williams. Since Examiner.com articles can only be 200-300 words, I had to be very brief.

Here is the introduction to my article:

Around the United States, and even in North Carolina in the “Bible belt,” Christians are concerned about the death of “Christian America.” While some decry the loss of Christendom and privileges for Christian organizations, others see opportunities for discipleship.

Examiner.com article: Food banks provide more than food

My first Examiner.com article is posted here: Food banks provide more than food.

I’m writing as the “Raleigh Practical Christianity Examiner,” so my goal is to help Jesus’ followers to live out what they say that they believe.

My article begins like this:

Jesus told his disciples that they should be recognized both for their love for one another and for their care for “the least,” that is, for those who are hungry, sick, imprisoned, or homeless. In today’s struggling economy, more and more people find themselves among those needing help.

Since this is a new medium for me, I would appreciate any feedback.

Last week, I was invited to write for Examiner.com as the Raleigh Practical Christianity Examiner.

I’ve submitted my first article. However, first articles must be approved before they are published. I will let my readers here know when it is published.

I’ll also provide links here to any future Examiner.com articles. I hope you decide to read and interact with my articles there as well.
